Hi,

Looking for a bit of help

I entered a trust deed in June 2014 and made my last payment in August 2018. I was discharged in May 2019....however my trustee hasn't discharged me. Will this impact my credit score (even thou 6 years will have passed)?

Thanks

Hi MagicR.

It really shouldn't affect you at all if you have been discharged but your trustee has not.

From your perspective, and from the perspective of rebuilding your credit status, it's your discharge that is the important event.

There's more information about issues connected to this at:

Hi TDA,

Thanks for the link it's very informative. I've noticed that all my old debtors are still showing me in default on their accounts so I'll get in touch with them. One question when your debt is sold on (in my case my Rbs debt was passed to Max Recovery). Who should I contact Rbs or Max Recovery?

Thanks again.

Hi MagicR,

The key bit of information to check with your default notices is the single original date that each default notice was issued (this is different to ongoing monthly "D" reporting).

It should be no later than when your trust deed began. If that's the case then all of these accounts should be about to vanish from your credit report altogether, including the monthly reporting that happened afterwards, because they'll be reaching the six year point.

If they were issued after your trust deed began you can contact the creditors and ask them to be backdated to when your trust deed began. This will get them off your credit report sooner.

I think I'd start with the current owner of each debt.
