I have revised a email saying my td want me to apply for a tax refund are they allowed to do this
I have never applied for 1 in my life because my understanding is the tax office can come back at anytime in 4 years and say they were wrong and want it back

Hi Adam,

In all my time Iíve never requested a client to apply for a tax rebate.

If a client completes a tax return and is due a rebate then HMRC will normally pay this directly to the Trustee.

Maybe double check with your Trustee and ask them to clarify things in writing.

Hi Adam,

If your trustee believes that you might be entitled to a tax return then it seems reasonable for them to request that you do this.
